水资源与环境系(研究中心)

  中山大学是华南地区唯一开设水文与水资源工程专业的高校,于1972年就在原地理系设置了水文专业,是我国最早设置水文专业的3所综合性大学之一。1986年,经国家教委批准,在原水文专业基础上,创建了水资源与环境专业。1993年,国家教育部进行专业调整,水资源与环境专业与自然资源管理专业合并,改称为资源环境区划与管理专业。1999年,资源环境区划与管理专业与经济地理与城乡区域规划专业合并,改称为资源环境与城乡规划管理专业(水资源与环境方向)。基于中山大学30余年水文水资源本科办学积累,尤其是服务于改革开放前沿珠江三角洲地区水利建设管理的实践积累,为满足我国尤其是华南地区快速经济社会发展对水文水资源专业人才的需求,同时考虑水文水资源学科的区域性以及该学科本科专业在全国的分布,为填补水文水资源工程专业在华南地区的空白,我校于2004年申报并获国家教育部批准设立该专业,依托我校地理科学与规划学院水资源与环境系,于2004年开始招生,现有在读学生165人、已毕业学生119人。

  水文与水资源工程专业本科学制为四年,是以培养水文、水资源工程技术人才为主要目标的工科专业,学生毕业授予工学学士学位。本学科经过多年的建设,形成一支由陈晓宏教授为学科带头人的、由16名教授、副教授与青年博士为主体的、知识结构合理、且相对稳定的高水平学术梯队,其中教授5人(博士生导师5人)、副教授6人、讲师5人,有一批优秀、精干的年轻教师,具有博士学位的14人。

  本学科拥有一个广东省教育厅华南地区水循环与水安全重点实验室,拥有水文水资源调查评价甲级证书和建设项目水资源论证甲级证书,为本学科实现产、学、研结合、多学科交叉融合提供了条件。近5年来,紧跟国际水科学前沿和热点问题,围绕国家和地方需求,完成了百余项水文水资源水环境科研项目,科研经费6000余万元。一方面积极为广东省地方经济社会可持续发展的水安全保障服务,主持完成了“广东省水资源综合规划”、“广东省可持续发展水资源战略研究”等指导广东省水资源发展方向的重点项目,以及我国南方第一个水量水质双控制的水权分配方案“广东省东江流域水资源分配方案”,其中4项科研项目成果为4个广东省政府文件提供政策支撑:粤府办[2007]98号、粤府[2008]13号、粤府办[2008]50号和粤府办[2010]10号。另一方面积极承担国家水相关研究课题,近5年主持国家自然科学基金项目12项、重点项目1项,以及“十一五”支撑计划项目、中国科学院学部咨询项目、国家重大水专项、水利部公益和国际合作项目等10余项。以华南亚热带水文水资源水环境研究为重点,在剧烈人类活动和气候变化影响下的水文水资源特征变异及华南沿海河口滨海水文环境方面开展了深入系统的研究,在水资源配置、分水方案、水资源综合规划、水资源保护、河口与近岸水文、水文预报、地下水以及水环境生态修复等方面取得了丰富成果。创立了南方湿润区水资源配置模式和水量水质捆绑的分水模式,建立了气候变化和人类活动下水资源特征变异识别方法。研究成果获得省部级二等奖1项、三等奖1项;出版教材、专著5部;近5年发表论文360多篇,其中SCI、EI、ISTP三大检索论文150多篇。

  在人才培养过程中,依托综合性大学学科齐全优势,在充分发挥工科数理基础教学扎实的同时,加强地理学、环境学、规划学等方面的教学,理工融合,既培养学生综合分析处理问题的能力,同时又突出微观上的分析与计算能力的培养;强调理论教学与实践教学的融合,培养学生的实践能力,形成了具有鲜明华南地区水文水资源特色和综合性大学优势的本科生培养模式。有水文与水资源综合教学实习基地、污水处理实习基地、给水处理实习基地、工程水资源及水利水电工程实习基地,在珠海校区兴建了以“雨水、地表水、土壤水、地下水、海水的水分相互转化与物质迁移”为理论框架的华南滨海水循环综合试验基地,建有水力学、水资源与水处理、河口海岸沉积动力和遥感与地理信息系统等实验室。经过4年的理论学习和实践锻炼,特别是进入大三后大量参与教师的科研项目,加之每年2-3项本科生自己申请获得的国家和省级科研课题,独立科研能力得到极好锻炼,使得本专业毕业学生具有良好的专业技能和综合素质。近3年本专业毕业生就业率达到90%。一些毕业生考入中国水利水电科学研究院、南京水利科学研究院、中国科学院地理所、武汉大学、河海大学攻读研究生学位,受到这些科研院所的普遍赞誉;受聘参加工作的毕业生,也普遍受到用人单位的较高评价,认为本专业学生基础知识扎实,所学知识覆盖面广,有较强的操作能力,适应性强,尤其是综合能力强。有些学生已成为单位的业务骨干,在水利、环境等行业部门发挥了重要的作用。


Sun Yat-sen University is the pioneering university in South China which offers the major of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering. The former Geography Department in Sun Yat-sen University began to start the Hydrology major since 1972, and so the Sun Yat-sen University was listed as one of the three universities with the Hydrology major in China. In 1986, with authorization by the Chinese Education Commission, the major of Water Resources and Environment was started from the former Hydrology major. In 1993, the Ministry of Education of China regulated the divisions of programs, and the major of Resource Environmental Division and Administration was started by combining two majors of Water Resources and Environment and Natural Resource Management. In 1999, the major of Resource Environmental Division and Administration was consolidated with the major of Economic Geography and Urban and Rural Planning, and the new major appeared as Resource Environment and Urban and Rural Planning and Administration (Water Resource and Environment). With more than 30-year undergraduate training experiences in hydrology and water resources, particularly the objectives to work for the development and management of water resources in the Pearl River Delta, the frontier of Chinese Reform and Opening, the major of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering was set up in the Department of Water Resources and Environment, Geography and Planning School of Sun Yat-sen University in 2004 with aim to satisfy the demands of specialists in hydrology and water resources with the rapid development of socio-economy and also to fill the gap of major of Hydrology and Water Resources in South China. So far, there are registered 165 students and 119 students were graduated.

The 4-year undergraduate program in Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering aims to train specialists in hydrology and water resources engineering, and offers bachelor degree in engineering. A stable and highly-qualified academic team with Professor Xiaohong Chen as the leading scientist, including 5 professors, 6 associate professors, and 5 lecturers, was available after long-term development of this department. Fourteen members in our team have Ph.D. degree.

The Key Laboratory of Water Cycle and Water Security in Southern China of Guangdong High Education Institute, the Class A Certificate of Hydrology and Water Resources Investigation and Assessment, and the Class A Certificate of Water Resources Assessment in Construction Project in our department make it possible to integrate production, teaching and research, and also interdisciplinary collaborations. In recent 5 years, with focus on international academic frontiers and hot spots of hydrology field, and also on regional and national demands in terms of water resources and hydrology, more than 100 projects concerning hydrology and water resource environmental research were financially supported by local and central governments with total funding of about 60 million RMB. On one hand, we provide services in water securities and protections for sustainable development of socio-economy of Guangdong province with the projects of “Water Resources Comprehensive Planning in Guangdong Province” and “Study of Sustainable Developmental Water Resources Strategy in Guangdong Province”, and these projects are devoted to provide guidelines and development directions of water resources in Guangdong Province. We also supervised the first water right allocation scheme with consideration of control of both water quantity and quality in Guangdong province after the project of “Water Resources Allocating Scheme in East River Basin, Guangdong Province”. Amongst all these projects, 4 research projects provide scientific support for governmental documents of the Guangdong province: No. 98 Guangdong Province Office [2007], No. 13 [2008], No. 50 [2008], and No. 10 [2010]; On the other hand, we actively apply the water-related national funding. In recent 5 years, we obtained 12 Projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 Key Project, Scheme Projects supported by the 11th Five-Year Planning, Consulting Projects of Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Key Special Funds for Water, Public Projects of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, and International Collaborative Projects, and so on. With focus on subtropical hydrology, water resources, and water environment in South China, we conduct systematic research on changing properties of hydrological processes and water resources, and also on coastal hydrologic environment of the estuary in South China under influences of human activities and climate changes. Fruitful achievements have been obtained in water resource allocation, water diverting strategy, water resources comprehensive planning, water resources protection, estuarial and coastal hydrology, hydrologic prediction, underground water, and biological restoration of water environment, and so on. We have done pioneering work in water resources disposition pattern in humid regions, water diverting pattern with consideration of both water quantity and quality, and also detection methodology and computation procedure in detection of change points within hydrologic series under the influences of climate changes and human interferences. We were awarded the second prize and the third prize in provincial class due to our research achievements. In recent 5 years, more than 360 papers have been published and more than 150 papers have been accepted by international journals.

Relying on all-round types of majors in the Sun Yat-sen University, maintaining the sound educational foundation of engineering, we also underline the importance of other courses, such as geography, environmental science, and ekistics. This educational strategy not only helps to improve students’ analyzing abilities in a comprehensive way, but also highlight computational capabilities. The fusion of theoretical and practical educations greatly develops students’ practical performances. This undergraduate training style fully reflects the unique features of specialists working on hydrology and water resources in South China and also the superiority of the Sun Yat-sen University. Our major owns teaching and practicing grounds in terms of hydrology and water resources, sewage treatment, and water resources engineering, and also laboratories of hydraulics, water resources and water treatment, coastal and estuarial sediment movement, and remote sensing and geographical information system. Coastal water cycle testing base was built in Zhuhai Campus with the technical frame of transformations of rainfall, surface water, soil water, underground water, and sea water, as well as transportations of materials. After 4-year theoretical study and practical training, especially participating in research projects after junior with 2~3 national and provincial research projects applied by undergraduate students themselves each year, they obtain independent character in scientific research, good expertise, and comprehensive qualities. Employment rate in these 3 years reaches 90% and which can fully corroborate the consolidated knowledge background and rich practical performances. Some graduates were admitted in graduate programs by China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute, Institute of Geographic Sciences CAS, Wuhan University and Hohai University, and their performances have been well confirmed by these institutes or universities. The graduated students from the Department of Water Resources and Environment were always highly prized by their employers as owing consolidated and wide basic knowledge, strong operational capacity, and strong comprehensive abilities. Some graduates have been mainstays in their working groups, and they are playing important roles in fields of water resources and environment.
