On November 21, the Final of the 7th Geographical Science Presentation Contest held in Fujian Normal University successfully. This contest was organized by Geographical Society of China, the School of Geography and Planning of Sun Yat-sen University, the School of Geographical Science on Fujian Normal University, and Fujian Geography Society. There were in total 18 teams coming from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Taipei, Feng Chia University, Sun Yat-sen University, Henan University, Hunan Normal University, South China Normal University, Guangzhou University, Guangdong University of Economics, Hubei University, Guangxi Normal University, Jishou University, Hanjiang Normal School, Chuxiong Normal School, Anyang Normal School, Minjiang School, Xinhua College of Sun Yat-sen University, Fujian Normal School and more than 120 scholars and professionals participating the competition.
At the opening ceremony, professor Zhou Suhong of Sun Yat-sen University made a detailed introduction about the whole contest. The secretary general Zhang Guoyou gave the high remarks on the whole event which improved the students’ geographic professionalism, build a communication platform for students from all over the country.
The theme of this contest is “Conflict and Harmony—the Man –Earth Relationship of Geography”. The contest included two segments, “presentation” and “reply”. After a tough competition, the team of Fujian Normal University won the first award, Guangzhou University and Jishou University won second awards, Hunan Normal University, Sun Yat-sen University and South China Normal University won the third awards.
The Geographical Science Presentation Contest originated from Sun Yat-sen University, which is the most influential geographical contest in South China.
